Our Story
The story of Ascent Outdoor begins, as all great outdoor adventures do, on the trail. It was during the 2017 UTOP ultra-trail race that our founders, Jack and Andy, first met as rivals. Their shared passion for endurance sports and trail running in Malaysia soon transformed them from competitors into friends and, ultimately, business partners with a unified vision for bringing the world's best outdoor gear, including Kailas trail running shoes, vests and apparel, to the Malaysian market.
In 2023, that vision became a reality with the official formation of Ascent Max Sdn Bhd, which officially rebranded as Ascent Outdoor by the end of 2025.

Our Journey in Malaysia
Our first branch, Kailas Penang, quickly established a significant presence, supporting local mountain sports events and collaborating on international events such as the widely celebrated Kailas Penang Skyrace. We are deeply committed to managing and supporting talented local Malaysian athletes, with the overarching goal of elevating the entire mountain sports community in Malaysia.
Looking ahead to 2026, Ascent is expanding our commitment to premium outdoor gear with the launch of our multibrand retail store. While Kailas remains our main focus and core partner for climbing and trail running gear (including the highly sought-after Kailas EX 330), we are carefully curating a selection of other premium brands, including Suunto, Zeone, Pohinix, and many more. This expansion aims to create the ultimate comprehensive hub for serious Malaysian outdoor enthusiasts seeking the best equipment and the complete range of Kailas Malaysia and other premium brand products.
